Why it matters
Developers often need realistic test data that looks like real user data. Using real user data for testing is a privacy violation and often illegal. Online anonymizers require you to upload your data to a third-party server — which defeats the purpose if the data contains real PII.
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your data never leaves your machine, and the fake data it produces is realistic enough for testing.
Limitations
The fake data is randomly generated and may occasionally produce values that look like real PII. Always review the output before using it in production-like environments.
Frequently asked questions
- Is my data uploaded anywhere?
- No. Everything runs in your browser. Your data is never sent to any server.
- Can I use the anonymized data in production?
- No. This tool is for generating test data. The fake data is not guaranteed to be unique or valid for production use.
- What if it misses some PII?
- This tool uses pattern matching. It will catch common formats but may miss unusual ones. Always review the output manually.
